The Codos office team is very much into books. Some really like science fictions, others are more into thrillers and we decided to recommend some books through here. And since Codos’ vibe is more Anthony Bourdain and less ACOTAR we are going with our favorite cookbooks.
We are keeping it simple this time, here are our top three weekday dinner cookbooks. These books make incredibly tasty dinners, that don’t take hours but will still impress if you are hosting a dinner-date on a Thursday.
Nothing Fancy
by Alison Roman
Alison is a master of her craft, she creates recipes that are IN CRE DI BLE and yet not usually complicated at all. She layers flavors using pantry staples and creates magic out of anchovies. This book is the kind you can honestly just work your way through and try everything. Perfect for hosting or just for you. Her new book “Something from Nothing” is currently available for pre-order and launches on Nov. 11th. And if her previous ones are any indication we are already signing up.
Six Seasons of Pasta
by Joshua McFadden
By now everyone should know Joshua is the master of seasonality and can turn any veggie into the most decadent plate. This time he has a go at “Everyone’s favorite food”. And it’s exactly what we all need on a Tuesday night. We all deserve more than pasta with store-bought pesto, we don’t live in dorms anymore. This takes us through simple and of course delicious pasta sauces, that challenge the ordinary while staying in season and being just as quick and easy (mostly) as a basic tomato sauce.
Justine Cooks
by Justine Doiron
Those of us who are not living under rock know Justine from her instagram @justine_snacks. Some of us (ehrm me) have watched her make her own wedding cake in bewilderment. Her recipes are mostly plant-based and hit the spot everytime. In her debut Cookbook she gives us recipes similar to what we are used to seeing on instagram, but with an invitation to linger. She describes cooking as a muscle and this should help us explore, experiment and learn how to make the kitchen our own. It has many recipes that anyone should try on a wednesday night, you will be surprised at the amount of flavor, texture and freshness she packs in a 15 min dish. We can really recommend her “Kimchi Crusted Poached Eggs” which are exactly that, delicious, quick, flavorful and fresh.
We could recommend a thousand more, but we’ll leave it a this three for now and maybe if you give the article some love we’ll turn this into a series. We hope you enjoy cooking with these books as much as we do.
