Whether you're feeling adventurous or just want to enjoy your coffee at its best – here are our favorite methods. Have fun trying them out!

Filter Coffee: Clean, nuanced, and full of character

Chemex – Elegance meets aroma
The Chemex impresses with its stylish design and produces a particularly clear, aromatic cup of coffee. Thanks to the thick paper filter, oils are removed, resulting in a clean and complex flavor profile.

How it works:

  1. Place the paper filter in the Chemex and rinse with hot water.

  2. Add 30 g of coarsely ground coffee.

  3. Heat 500 ml of water to 92–96 °C.

  4. Pour 60 ml of hot water evenly over the coffee grounds and wait 30 seconds. This process, known as blooming, allows CO₂ to escape, letting the coffee "bloom" and enabling even extraction.

  5. Slowly pour the remaining water in circular motions. More movement enhances intensity; gentle pouring results in a smoother cup. Try both and find your favorite balance.

  6. Total brew time: approx. 4 minutes.

Hand Filter – Full control, delicate nuances
One of the best-known pour-over methods is the Hario V60.

The V60 allows for precise control over the brewing process and highlights fruity and floral notes. Its conical shape ensures an even extraction.

Here’s how to brew your V60:

  1. Insert a paper filter into the V60 and rinse.

  2. Add 15 g of medium-ground coffee.

  3. Heat 250 ml of water to 92–96 °C.

  4. Pour 30 ml of hot water over the grounds and let bloom for 30 seconds. This releases carbon dioxide, helping the coffee bed swell and setting the stage for even extraction.

  5. Slowly pour the remaining water in circular motions. More turbulence = more intense flavor. Less movement = softer, more delicate cup. Avoid too much agitation – it can lead to over-extraction. Find the balance that suits your taste.

  6. Total brew time: approx. 2:30–3 minutes.

AeroPress – Versatile and practical
Perfect for on the go or for curious coffee lovers. The AeroPress uses pressure to push water through the grounds, delivering a full-bodied yet clean cup. It’s one of our favorite methods – and you can brew it in more than ten different ways!

Here’s the classic version:

  1. Place a paper filter in the cap and rinse with hot water.

  2. Add 16 g of fine to medium-ground coffee to the AeroPress.

  3. Pour in 240 ml of water (92–96 °C) and stir for 10 seconds.

  4. Let steep for 1 minute, then press down slowly.

  5. Enjoy as is – or top off with a bit of water if you like it milder.

French Press – Full-bodied and intense
The French Press creates a strong, robust brew with more oils and fine particles, since the coffee steeps fully in water.

Step by step:

  1. Add 30 g of coarsely ground coffee to the French Press.

  2. Pour in 500 ml of water (92–96 °C) and stir.

  3. Let steep for 4 minutes.

  4. Slowly press down the plunger and serve.

Filter Coffee Machine – Simple and dependable
Perfect for larger batches and everyday coffee comfort.

Here’s how:

  1. Place a paper filter in the basket and rinse with hot water

  2. Add 60 g of medium-ground coffee per 1 liter of water.

  3. Fill the water tank and start the machine.

  4. Enjoy the coffee immediately after brewing.

Espresso: Intense flavor by hand or machine

Portafilter – Espresso at its best
The classic method for rich espresso with perfect crema. Water is pushed through finely ground coffee at high pressure (9 bar).

Here’s how to get it right:

  1. Add 18 g of finely ground coffee into the portafilter.

  2. Tamp evenly with 15–20 kg of pressure.

  3. Lock the portafilter into the machine and start the extraction.

  4. Brew for 25–30 seconds to yield about 36 g of espresso. Watch the color - it should shift from deep brown to golden. If it turns pale and runs unevenly, stop - this means over-extraction is starting.

Bialetti (Moka Pot) - Classic stovetop espresso
This iconic Italian method makes a strong, aromatic coffee full of character.

Here’s how to brew:

  1. Fill the bottom chamber with hot water up to the valve.

  2. Add medium-coarse ground coffee to the filter basket – about 15 g for a small pot, 20 g for a regular one.

  3. Assemble the Moka and place it over medium heat.

  4. As soon as the coffee rises into the top chamber, remove from heat and serve.

Fully Automatic Machine – Convenience at the touch of a button
Fast, easy, and always freshly ground. These machines handle everything for you – just press start.

To get the best out of it:

  1. Fill the machine with fresh beans and clean water.

  2. Set grind size and strength to your preference.

  3. Start brewing and enjoy.

  4. Pro tip: Even when the hopper looks empty, some beans may still be inside the grinder. Use them up before switching varieties. Clean the hopper and grinder regularly for optimal flavor.

With these methods, you can get the very best out of our CODOS Coffees.
